That innocent look, she'd know it anywhere. Therefore, he earned a playful smack. Poor Lindir, fretting over the mischief of dwarves while the lord of Imladris watched in amusement.

"Almost as terrible as when you let me send him for honey fish when I was pregnant. Just how long was it that you let him search before telling him there was no such thing?"

She earned a laugh and a hug at the smack. "A few hours, I admit! Just as long as it took to convince you to let me go after him." She'd been rather insistent he stay with her, after all. "Who was I to disobey my wife?"

"Had you let me out of bed, I might not have made you stay so much." Who was she kidding, of course she would have. Having Elrond close by the entire time had been important to her. And he'd known it, still knew it.

"So, how much damage was left from the dwarves?"

He smiled knowingly. He knew his wife far too well to believe she'd have behaved any other way than how she had.

"The stores were nearly empty. Had they stayed much longer we might have had to request aid for the winter." He was an obedient husband - most of the time. Elrond leaned their foreheads together, simply happy to keep holding her close. "As it was, we were able to increase hunting and foraging parties and managed quite well."

"You figured out a way to survive, as you always will. My husband, wisest of the Eldar." Not counting her mom but her mom didn't count anyway. Galadriel sometimes cheated. So did Elrond but, for the moment, that was forgotten. Bias? What bias, she wasn't biased.

"Mithrandir might have given you some warning though. He always seemed to know more than he ever let on. And had far more under his sleeve than expected."
